5 Ways to Increase your Productivity in 2017

  1. Spend your lunch break with a colleague

Taking breaks with your co-workers has been proven to boost productivity as well as lowering stress. A study which tracked Bank of America employees saw a 15 to 20 percent increase in productivity and 19 percent decrease in stress levels in employees who took breaks together.

 

  1. Add some yellow

Having the colour yellow in the office has been shown to boost concentration and alertness. It does this by aiding decision-making and clarity of thoughts. In contrast, research has suggested that the colour white in an office has a detrimental effect on mood and also on productivity.

 

  1. Work in 90 minute intervals

Working in 90-minute interval, followed by a 20 minute break may be the perfect combination for productivity. Research conducted across musicians, athletes and chess players has suggested that people perform better when working for 90 minutes uninterrupted followed by 20 minutes to allow the brain to re co operate.

 

  1. Add some greenery to the office

Having plants in the office can increase productivity by up to 15 percent. As well as increasing workplace satisfaction and perceived air quality.

 

  1. Music

Studies confirm that listening to music makes repetitive work more productive. Some have argued this effect is from the mood the music creates rather than the music itself. Ambient music has been shown to be particularly effective when creative tasks are at hand. Whilst dance music has been shown to increase proof reading speed by 20 percent and were able to increase abstract reasoning tasks more quickly.
